PMA Statement on DEP PennEast Approval

February 13, 2017 Energy | Regulatory Reform

February 13, 2017 (Harrisburg, PA) The Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association (PMA) welcomes the news that the PennEast pipeline project has earned 401 water quality certification from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

“The PennEast project will safely deliver clean Pennsylvania natural gas to customers across eastern PA and New Jersey,” said PMA President David N. Taylor. “New, modern energy infrastructure will lower home heating bills for families, while providing a competitive edge for creating and keeping high-value manufacturing jobs. We congratulate the PennEast team for this latest accomplishment and look forward to having this new energy asset delivering prosperity for customers very soon,” added Taylor.

Noting the dead-end obstructionism of Radical Greens, Taylor said the DEP certification again shows that modern energy infrastructure meets or exceeds every standard for safety and environmental protection. “Contrary to the scare tactics of green extremists, pipelines are the safest method for delivering the life-bringing energy everyone needs to uphold our very high and ever rising quality of life,” Taylor said.
